Sunway TCM Centre Chooses Kuching For Its Second Branch

Sunway TCM Centre is expanding its footprint in Borneo with the opening of a new branch in Canaan Square, Kuching exactly two years after its maiden centre commenced services in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.
Sunway TCM Centre Kuching, opening on 25 January 2022, will serve the local population in Sabah and Sarawak, as well as international patients who will find the centre located in a strategic location of just eight minutes away from the Kuching International Airport. Besides TCM consultation, herbal treatment, acupuncture, moxibustion, Tuina and cupping, the new branch will offer specialised services on stroke rehabilitation, fertility, weight management, pre and post-natal care, and post-COVID recovery.
Representing a holistic approach to medicine and health, Sunway TCM Centre marries the traditional and cultural practices of the East with the modern, technology-driven approach of the West.

Ms Hu Kee Yie, TCM Physician and Person-in-Charge of Sunway TCM Centre Kuching said, “Similar to our headquarters in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, this branch is also managed by medical professionals who are qualified in both western and traditional medicine.”
With Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) being included in the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Global Medical Compendium for the first time in the recent Fifth World Conference on Integrated Medicine held in the USA, this further elevates the role that TCM plays in the overall improvement of health.
“While TCM is complementary to mainstream medicine, it can meet many health issues especially with the rising demand for TCM during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr Lim Ren Jye, Medical Director of Sunway TCM Centre. He elaborated that Sunway TCM Centre has provided teleconsultation services to around 400 COVID-19 patients.

He added that the key for TCM’s continued development is evidence-based research, which ultimately is to reach the goals of better quality, safety and efficacy to further contribute to the nation’s healthcare.
Sunway TCM Centre’s involvement in the country’s pandemic management included contribution in the drafting of Malaysia’s Traditional & Complementary Medicine guidelines with respect to the design, conduct, evaluation and regulation.
Ms Hu also added that Sunway TCM Centre Kuching offers personalised and tailored treatment plans by understanding the normal function and disease processes, emphasising on prevention of illnesses, and promoting self-healing ability. TCM encompasses many different practices, including Chinese herbal medicine, dietary therapy, acupuncture, moxibustion, tui na (Chinese massage), guasha and more.
